Australia Issues Warning Over DMAA

The U.S. is not the only place that DMAA (1,3-dimethylamylamine) has raised concerns: Regulators for Australia have also issued a warning over dietary supplements containing the substance.

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) issued the warning and is working with state and territory government agencies and departments to investigate a range of products after consumers reported adverse side effects linked to DMAA, according to a FSANZ press release.

Australia’s Federal Department of Health and Ageing is looking at whether DMAA should be banned and is seeking advice from the Advisory Committee on Medicines Scheduling, which will meet later this month to discuss the issue.

Some of the dietary supplement brands that have tested positive for DMAA include Hemo Rage Black, PreSurge, Jack3D, and Noxpump.
