Bicycle Recall Sparked by Faulty Forks

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Specialized Bicycle Components Inc. voluntarily recalled about 12,000 bicycles because the front fork can break, which poses a risk of fall and injury to riders.

There have been four cases of injury related to this defect reported to Specialized Bicycle to date. The consumers received injuries such as facial fractures, head and shoulder injuries, and cuts.

The bicycles affected by the unsafe product recall had been sold for $550 to $1,100 from July 2007 to July 2012 at authorized Specialized retailers. The bicycles are manufactured by Kinesis of China.

The CPSC has asked the consumers to return the bicycles to an authorized Specialized retailer and get the replacement done for the front fork, free of charge.
