Carbonation System Recalled Due to Explosion Hazard

Plastic bottles used with the Twist’n Sparkle Beverage Carbonation System were recalled by manufacturer iSi North America Inc. following reports that the bottles can blow up under pressure and cause injuries.

Nine incidents where the plastic bottle exploded and expelled plastic parts were reported to iSi North America. In three incidents customers received cuts to their upper body.

The recall involves more than 160,000 units, according to the Consumer Product and Safety Commission.

The Twist’n Sparkle Beverage Carbonation System was sold at Williams-Sonoma, QVC, and other retailers and online sellers between June 2010 to March 2012. The bottles were sold in the Starter Set model number 1005 with one reusable bottle and the Bottle Set model number 1006 with two reusable bottles.
