Church Van Accident Leads to Personal Injury Lawsuit
A pair of $10 million personal injury lawsuits have surfaced following a head-on collision in September that killed two church van passengers.
According to Knox News, the families of those victims filed lawsuits recently against the man who was allegedly behind the wheel of the SUV that hit their church van head-on. A 45-year-old man and 16-year-old girl died during the fiery incident.
The accused driver, Tyler Schaeffer, 21, was also injured in the wreck and treated at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was later arrested for an outstanding burglary warrant.
In additional to the two fatalities, the highway crash injured 11 other people. Schaffer was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer. Prosecutors plan to seek a criminal case for the fatal crash.
