Faulty Gas Gauge Leads to Infiniti SUV Recall

Almost 7,800 Infiniti SUVs were recalled by Nissan for a fuel gauge malfunction that shows gas in empty tanks.

The JX35 (model year 2013) is affected by the recall, reports The Associated Press. A tube inside the gas tank may not be in its right place thus preventing the float from dropping as fuel is consumed. This may cause inaccurate readings on the dashboard fuel gauge.

According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the vehicles are at increased risk of crashes as they could run out of fuel unexpectedly because the driver would not know that the SUV is low on gas.
