The family of a Florida woman who passed away after a series of cosmetic surgeries —commonly referred to as the “Mommy Makeover”— has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit alleging her doctors are responsible for her untimely death.

Brooke Boon was 39 years old when she collapsed at her home three days after surgery and died, according to The Florida Times-Union. An autopsy showed that she died from a blood clot in her lungs, or pulmonary embolism.

The medical malpractice lawsuit claims that despite having knowledge that birth control pills increase risks of fatal blood clots after surgery, doctors were negligent in not taking Boon off the Yasmin birth control she was taking, according to The Florida Times-Union.

Boon leaves behind a husband and two children ages two and three.
