FL Hospital Sued for Wrongful Death

A Florida hospital is the subject of a wrongful death lawsuit by the family of a man who suffered a heart attack less than three days after initially being treated for chest pain.

Lazaro Rodriguez’s widow filed the wrongful death lawsuit alleging that doctors at Delray Medical Center misread the results of a coronary CTA, which is a type of X-ray that can identify heart problems such as blocked arteries that could lead to a heart attack. The doctors allegedly reported “normal coronary CTA” when the result was actually abnormal.

The complaint claims that another doctor that treated Rodriguez stopped his cardiac medications too early before releasing him from the hospital. It further states that doctors sent him home with aspirin and ibuprofen, despite his high levels of troponin, which is a protein that indicates heart trauma, according to Sun-Sentinel.

Rodriguez’s widow seeks damages of at least $50,000.
