Google Sued Over Android Apps

Android cell phone users slammed Google Inc. with a consumer fraud lawsuit claiming the company failed to test if applications for the mobile device were available for download in the store or function as promoted.

According to Law360 (subscription required), Dodd J. Harris and Stephen Sabatino accused Google of misleading consumers into thinking that each of the tools, games and programs available on the store - formerly known as the Google Android Market - were compatible with all Android phones. The plaintiffs claimed that Google earned more than $100 million from the store for apps that did not work with many Android cell phones.

The consumer fraud lawsuit accuses Google of violating California’s Unfair Competition Law and breach of implied warranty of merchantability.
