Health Canada Issues Actos Warning

Health Canada and Takeda Canada Inc. issued their own warning for the diabetes drug Actos, informing the public that the drug may increase a patient’s risk of developing bladder cancer.

The statement stems from the culmination of a safety assessment Health Canada announced last summer - just two days after the U.S. food and drug administration issued a similar warning, according to The Canadian Press.

Actos has also been linked to congestive heart failure and vision loss.

Numerous dangerous drug lawsuits have been filed over Actos and earlier this year, a number of Actos lawsuits were consolidated before a federal judge in Louisiana.
