Health Net Insurance Accused of Bad Faith
Dissatisfied customers of Health Net Insurance have launched a bad faith insurance lawsuit against the company alleging that it utilized unlawful practices against them, including the unfair denial of life-saving medical treatments.
California resident s Robert Mendoza and Kalana Penner are at the center of the bad faith insurance lawsuit against Health Net. Mendoza alleges that he had to pay $30,000 out of his own finances for his cancer treatment that was unfairly denied coverage by the insurance company. Penner claims that Health Net illegally denied claims for her medical treatments that she says should have been covered under her plan.
"It's illegal, it's morally offensive, and not defensible on any level," said Rocky Delgadillo, a chief executive at the L.A. County Medical Association (LACMA).
The LACMA has joined both Mendoza and Penner in the lawsuit by seeking an injunction against the denial policy that Health Net currently uses.
