Injured Plant Workers File $11M Lawsuit

Three former contract workers of Federal-Mogul Corp filed personal injury lawsuits against the company claiming they were severely burned in an explosion at the Blacksburg, VA auto parts plant in December 2010.

The workers allege that at the time of the explosion they were cleaning ducts used to transport combustible dust away from the manufacturing area. Two of the workers suffered potentially life-threatening burns, according to HazardEx.

The explosion caused extensive damage that some said could be felt several miles away.

The plaintiffs were technically employees of LCM Corp at the time and were contracted out to work for Federal-Mogul. They seek $11 million in compensation, claiming they were exposed to “inherently dangerous” conditions at the plant.
