Ireland Condemns DMAA

The Food and Safety Authority Ireland (FSAI) and the Irish Medicines Board (IMB) have issued a warning to consumers on the dangers of taking dietary supplements containing the substance DMAA (1, 3–Dimethylamylamine).

The warning comes after a number of adverse reactions were reported internationally related to products containing DMMA, according to a FSAI press release.

DMAA is a stimulant, for which a safe level for human consumption has not been established. It can cause high blood pressure, cerebral hemorrhage, and stroke.

The FSAI says there are several documented cases that show the consumption of DMAA, especially in combination with caffeine, poses a significant risk to consumer health. Some of the products containing the substance include:

  • Hemodrene
  • Hemorush
  • Jack3d
  • Spriodex
  • Lipo-6 Black
