Lawsuit Alleges Asbetos Hidden During Home Sale

Property owners who bought a Pasadena-area home are now suing the former owners and claiming they were duped into buying property that was full of mesothelioma-causing asbestos products.

According to Ultimate Clear Lake, Raul Rodriquez and Jose Juan Gonzalez purchased property located at 600 Walter St. in Pasadena from Betesda Iglesia Hispana International and Ruben Perez on March 23, 2011. However, after purchasing the land and surveying the property Rodriguez and Gonzalez learned that the previous owners had been hiding asbestos that was on the property and still posing a health risk to those nearby it.

Furthermore, the former owners also failed to disclose to the proper authorities that they were leasing the properly and collecting rent, even after the sale had been completed.

Rodriguez and Gonzalez brought a lawsuit against the former owners alleging fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, and breach of contract. They are seeking, attorney fees, court costs, and damages.

In addition to the deceptive measures the former owners took to sell the properly, not acknowledging the asbestos during the sale likely led to an increased mesothelioma risk due to asbestos exposure as well. One can only hope this is a rare occurrence, and other home owners and realtors do not employ similar schemes that put potential homeowners at risk of developing mesothelioma.
