Medical Malpractice Lawsuit Filed in IL

A medical malpractice lawsuit filed against an Illinois doctor by a patient claims that she suffered a retinal detachment as a result of the doctor’s misdiagnosis.

Randi Nunley filed her complaint in St. Clair County Circuit Court in Illinois and alleges that she sought treatment for an issue with her left eye at Eyecare Management on May 11, 2010, according to Lawyers USA Online (subscription required). She claims that, at the time, she suffered from a complete posterior vitreous separation, which may result in retinal detachment.

The medical malpractice lawsuit claims that the doctor’s misdiagnosis of the problem eventually led to Nunley’s detached retina six weeks later. Nunley says that this caused her to lose “a significant portion of her ability to see” as a consequence of the alleged malpractice.
