A brain-damaged woman has been awarded $120 million in a medical malpractice lawsuit that holds three New York hospitals responsible for her injuries after they allegedly provided her with improper care.

Jacqueline Martin, now 45, was treated at Jacobi Medical Center, Kings County Hospital Center, and Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center because she suffered from seizures. The complaint alleges that in February of 2004, the medical professionals mismanaged her medications, did not provide her with vital treatments, and failed to act quickly in crises, according to The New York Times.

The jury’s verdict is reportedly among the largest handed down for medical malpractice in the state.
