Medical Malpractice Lawsuits Filed Over Mastectomies

Report this content

Nine Canadian women have filed medical malpractice lawsuits against Eastern Health claiming their breast removals were based on inaccurate cancer test results.

According to UPI, the women claim that the regional health authority used flawed testing to diagnose them with cancer and caused them to undergo mastectomies. The inaccurate test results date back as far back as 1999, according to the complaint.

The Vancouver Sun reports that one of the plaintiffs underwent six rounds of chemotherapy and various X-rays that she did not need, according to court documents.

Eastern Health has given breast samples of the women for independent pathologists to examine them.
