The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that nearly 108,000 drills were recalled by Harbor Freight Tools due to a potential fire and burn hazard.

The CPSC reports that the black trigger switch on the 19.2v cordless drill has a tendency to overheat, which may potentially cause a fire hazard and result in burn injuries.

The recall was announced after Harbor Freight Tools received a report of one drill overheating that caused a burn injury to a customer. The faulty unit overheated and burnt through the handle of the tool.

The recalled product is known as Harbor Freight Tools Cordless Drill and it can be identified by a yellow label on the left side of the drill that bears the model number: 96526. The blue and black drills with a black trigger are sold at the Harbor Freight stores all over the U.S. and also through catalog and online sales.

Consumers can contact Harbor Freight Tools for a free replacement drill. Meanwhile consumers are advised to remove the rechargeable battery and immediately stop using the drill.
