New Book Centers on Medical Malpractice

A new book written by the sister of an Iowa man who died from an overdose of chemotherapy shines a spotlight on medical malpractice and the devastation it may cause.

Over 30 years ago, Scott Hamilton was diagnosed with testicular cancer, according to USA Today. Chemotherapy had eliminated most of his cancer and he had an excellent chance of long-term survival when he was mistakenly given 15 times the dosage of his chemotherapy medication. He soon began to hemorrhage from his nose, eyes, ears, and throat; blood leaked around his heart and from his lungs. Eventually, he died.

Scott’s sister, Jo Hamilton, has written a book entitled For the Love of Scott! to fulfill her brother’s dying wish that his story be told. It chronicles not only her brother’s story but also the impact medical malpractice has on patients throughout the nation, according to USA Today.
