New York Bans Synthetic Pot

Report this content

Synthetic pot’s increasing usage among youth in New York recently will soon come to an end, as the state banned the sale of the synthetic version of marijuana - also known as “Spice” and “K2” - that is sold in smoke shops, convenience stores, tobacco and stores.

Researchers linked synthetic pot to severe adverse side effects such as acute renal failure and even death, USA Today reported. Other symptoms associated with the product, include increased heart rates, agitation, paranoid behavior and nausea.

The chemicals in the product mimic THC, which is the active ingredient in marijuana.

The new ban calls for the distribution and sales to end immediately and local health officials must check for compliance.
