A nursing home abuse lawsuit filed by the family of a woman who passed away after a short stay at a Nevada nursing home has led to a $4.5 million award.

Eleanor Wildhaber spent less than three weeks at Life Care Center of Las Vegas in December 2008 after experiencing a stroke, according to documents filed in the case. Her family filed a wrongful death suit against the nursing home, which is a part of the national chain Life Care Centers of America.

A binding arbitrational panel decided the $4.5 million award and found that Wildhaber had been a victim of nursing home abuse and neglect, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
