class-action consumer fraud lawsuit was filed against two Ohio towing companies for violating state law by charging unfair administrative fees to drivers for towing their cars from private tow-away zones.

Two of Ohio’s largest towing companies, Shamrock and Camcar, were sued for allegedly charging a $30 administrative fee in addition to the cost of a tow, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

The lawsuit seeks to stop the illegal practice and to recover the extra charges paid by drivers to recover their cars.

The lawsuit also aims at finding out the number of people affected by the administrative fee charged by the towing companies.
