A Pennsylvania man suffering from mesothelioma and his wife have initiated a civil mesothelioma lawsuit against 86 companies alleging that they caused the asbestos exposure that made him sick.

Roscoe H. Peters worked as a laborer/electrician from 1953 to 1980, handling a number of products that contained asbestos. Years later, Roscoe – who is now 80-years-old – was diagnosed with mesothelioma.

Along with his wife Mary, the couple filed the civil mesothelioma lawsuit in Kanawaha County Circuit Court on September 14. It alleges that the 86 companies were all responsible for the asbestos exposure that caused his illness and were negligent in not protecting him, the Ellwood City Ledger reported..

Some of the 86 companies listed in the asbestos lawsuit include Weirton Steel, Caterpillar Inc., General Electric Co., Georgia-Pacific LLC, George V. Hamilton Inc., Honeywell International Inc., Union Carbide Corp., and Uniroyal Inc.
