A jury awarded a Texas man $33.3 million in a personal injury lawsuit in relation to a June 2011 car accident.

As reported in The Caller, James “Buddy” Roberts claims that he suffered severe injuries after another vehicle crashed into his near a construction zone. He alleges in the personal injury lawsuit that Birk’s Construction Inc. did not place proper warning signs during construction.

Roberts’ lawyer stated that vehicles approaching the construction zone at speeds of 70 miles-per-hour did not have sufficient warning that traffic would be stopped or slowed.

Birk’s Construction agreed to pay a reduced settlement amount of $6 million rather than appeal the jury’s verdict.
