Pradaxa Use Led to Health Issues

A lawsuit has been filed by a former Pradaxa user that alleges the blood thinning drug has led to them requiring regular medical care and monitoring for the rest of their life.

The Pradaxa lawsuit, which was filed against Boehringer Ingelheim on July 18, alleges that the victim began using the blood-thinning medication to treat non-valvular atrial fibrilation but soon had to stop after suffering excessive internal bleeding. The lawsuit claims that Boehringer never provided the appropriate warnings about the medical problems that can potentially arise when taking Pradaxa.

While it comes with the territory that blood thinning anticoagulant medications like Pradaxa or warfarin may cause excessive bleeding, Pradaxa is unique in that there is no known method to stop excessive bleeding when it occurs. Excessive bleeding caused by warfarin can be minimized by taking Vitamin K.

According to the lawsuit, the victim now must undergo regular monitoring and be provided with specific medical treatments for the rest of his life.
