Progressive Accused of Bad Faith Insurance Denial
A major auto insurance provider is under legal fire.
A New York-based auto body shop has been allowed to move forward with its bad faith lawsuit that accuses Progressive Insurance Group Company and its affiliates of deceptive acts and practices, this according to the Insurance Journal.
The plaintiff claims Progressive had been allegedly misleading consumers into taking their damaged vehicles away from North State Autobahn to competing body shops within Progressive’s network. The plaintiff also alleges Progressive had coaxed customers away with negative statements regarding the smaller company.
The lawsuit seeks to aid in recovery from “direct harm” caused by another business’s deceptive acts. North State sued Progressive under New York’s deceptive acts and practices statute, General Business Law section 349.
