Sandoz Recalls Birth Control

Sandoz is issuing a recall of 10 lots of its generic oral contraceptive, Introval, in the U.S. after a recent report of a packaging flaw.

The recall was ordered after a consumer reported the white placebo tablets were mistakenly in the ninth row of the 13-row blister card. The correct position for the placebo pills is in the 13th and final row.

Each three-month blister card contains 84 peach-colored active tablets and seven white placebo tablets arranged in 13 rows, one for each week. While the white placebo tablets can be clearly distinguished from the peach-colored active tablets, the packaging mistake poses an unintended pregnancy risk.
