The state of Arkansas filed a Risperdal lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson claiming officials from the company repeatedly misled doctors about the safety of the antipsychotic drug.

The dangerous drug lawsuit states that Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen unit made misleading claims about the health risks and effectiveness of Risperdal in a letter to more than 6,200 Arkansas doctors, violating the state’s deceptive-trade practices law.

The state seeks more than $1.25 billion in damages.

This is the fifth jury trial over the state’s claims that Johnson & Johnson withheld its knowledge of the Risperdal’s diabetes risk and duped Medicaid regulators into paying millions of dollars more for the medicine than they should have, according to Bloomberg.
