Stolen Tampons Unsafe, Says Kimberly-Clark

Kimberly-Clark Corp. issued a warning informing consumers about the health hazards associated with Kotex Natural Balance Security tampons that were stolen and sold off to the public.

The Associated Press (AP) reports that the stolen tampons had failed the company’s final inspection owing to the presence of metallic particles and imperfect raw materials. They were meant to be destroyed between October 2011 and June 2012; however, they were stolen in transit and sold to consumers.

An official from Clark asked consumers to exercise caution even though the health risk associated with the defective tampons was very low, according to AP.
