Three survivors of the July 20th shooting at a Colorado movie theatre have filed personal injury lawsuits alleging that lax security arrangements at the midnight premiere were responsible for the tragic event that left 12 dead and 58 injured.

Courthouse New Service reported that Denise Traynom, Brandon Axelrod, and Joshua Nowlan filed the two complaints against theatre operator Cinemark USA (Century 16 Aurora) and have claimed that better security could have helped avert the massacre.

Among other things, the lawsuits allege that no alarm went off as the gunman went in and out an exterior door in the theater and smuggled in fully loaded shotguns, an AR-15 assault rifle, one or more fully loaded, automatic Glock handguns, and several tear gas canisters. After the shooting ended, no efforts were made by the theatre authorities to evacuate the people safely.

The complaint alleges that Century 16’s lack of security personnel during the movie’s premiere and the lack of any alarm on the exterior door were contributing factors in the tragedy.
