Symptoms of Erb's Palsy
There are various symptoms parents can look for if they are unsure whether their baby has Erb’s Palsy, which is a serious birth injury that may affect a child for the rest of their lives.
Some of these symptoms include:
- No arm movement: your child is not moving the upper or lower arm or hand
- Bent arm: your child’s arm is bent at the elbow and held against the body
- No startle reflex: your child has an absent Moro reflex on the side that is affected. This reflex is a response to a sudden loss of support when the infant feels like it is falling
- Decreased Grip: your child has a decreased grip on the affected side
