Unpaid Interns Wage Legal Battle

A major spotlight is being put on the practice of employers not paying interns as several former Fox Entertainment Group interns seek to expand their wage and hour lawsuit.

The former interns sent a letter to U.S. District Judge William H. Pauley asking for their claims to be broadened to include all participants of Fox Entertainment Group’s internship program, according to Law360 (subscription required).

Other companies have also been under fire for their policies on unpaid internships. Former interns of the Fenton Fallon Corp. and of “The Charlie Rose Show” on PBS have also filed complaints.

Attorneys say that the recent increase in lawsuits over unpaid internships shows how important it is for internship programs to meet the strict state and federal labor rules for the use of unpaid workers, according to Law360 (subscription required).
