Video Captures Evidence of Nursing Home Abuse
A hidden camera captured apparent nursing home abuse at a facility in Texas, which has led to an in-depth investigation and several suspensions. According to FOX News, four employees at the Arlington facility were suspended indefinitely, including the center's administrator who had been informed previously of the unexplained bruises on the elderly woman, two certified nursing aides and another staff member whose position the state won't reveal because of privacy rules. In one scene of the hidden camera video, an aide appears to pull the resident’s hair. The subsequent report noted the aide explained her side of the story, claiming the resident “pushed back” from help and she’d caught her by the hair. The nursing home was cited for neglect and the state determined the nursing home failed to ensure its residents were free from abuse. There are nearly 16,000 nursing homes in the United States, 92 percent of which have been cited for deficiencies.
