Walgreens Sued in a Wrongful Death Lawsuit

The estate of a Kentucky woman has sued a Walgreens Pharmacy in a wrongful death lawsuit claiming that one of its pharmacists gave her the wrong prescription that led to her death.

According to the Courier-Journal, the family of Mary Moore alleges that she was supposed to be given a prescription for Hydralazine - a high blood pressure drug - but was instead given Hydroxyzine - an antihistamine medication – by the Walgreens’ pharmacist. The error was not realized for two weeks and when Moore finally received the right medicine it “was too late.” She was soon hospitalized and passed away, according to the complaint.

The wrongful death lawsuit claims that Moore was not offered counseling for the drug she was given, which would have allowed the pharmacist to see the mistake.

Moore’s family seeks punitive and compensatory damages.
