A California jury has awarded $167 million in a workplace abuse lawsuit filed by a former hospital employee who alleged that she was sexually harassed in the workplace and then fired after complaining.

According to the Sacramento Bee, Ani Chopourian claimed that hospital staff and physicians made sexual advances, both physically and verbally, towards her while she was employed as a surgical physician’s assistant at Mercy General Hospital from 2006 to 2008. She further alleged that after complaining about the sexual harassment many times, she was fired.

The jury found that the hospital, and its parent company Catholic Healthcare West, were liable for $42.7 million in compensation for mental anguish and lost wages as well as for $125 million in punitive damages.
