Wrongful Death Lawsuit Leads to $25 Million Punitive Award

A $25 million punitive award has been added to the award in a product liability lawsuit for the widow of a Florida man who died from smoking Kent brand of cigarettes from Lorillard Tobacco Co.

According to Bloomberg, the award comes one week after her initial $16 million in compensatory damages.

The jury found the tobacco company to be negligent and ruled that its cigarettes were unreasonable dangerous as well as defective.
