Wrongful Death Lawsuit Yields $2.9M Award

A California jury awarded close to $2.9 million in a wrongful death lawsuit to the family of an Oregon woman killed in a car accident involving a United States Parcel Service truck.

Rosa Margarita Arenas, age 52 at the time, was travelling from Oregon to Los Angeles, CA to visit her family for Easter in 2009 when a UPS truck changed lanes on southbound Interstate 5 and allegedly caused the deadly accident.

The jury included $1.75 million in the award for Arenas’ three adult children and husband for past and future loss of affection, love and comfort as well as other non-economic damages, according to the Sacramento Bee.
