DECKERS OUTDOOR CORPORATION HAS DONATED OVER 224,000 SHOES TO SOLES4SOULS®, THE SHOE CHARITY
The footwear company and charity celebrate a milestone in their long-standing partnership
January 5, 2012 – (Nashville, TN) Soles4Souls, the international shoe charity dedicated to providing shoes to people in need, is delighted to announce that Deckers Outdoor Corporation has donated more than 224,000 pairs of shoes for their international relief efforts. Deckers began their partnership with Soles4Souls in 2007, and their donations have helped a portion of the 1.5 billion individuals around the globe who can't afford shoes.
“At Deckers, we are committed to the responsible disposal of shoes, and in Soles4Souls, we found an excellent partner that not only shares our commitment but also allows us to put new, used and unwanted shoes on the feet of those in need,” said Angel Martinez, President and CEO of Deckers Outdoor Corporation.
Soles4Souls has distributed more than 16 million pairs of shoes around the world with the help of partners like Deckers. Most recently, they have distributed thousands of shoes to the victims of the devastating tornadoes in the Southeast, as well as millions of shoes to the residents of Haiti. With 1 in 4 adults in the world living on less than $1 a day, basic necessities like shoes are not readily available. Donations from Deckers and others are used to provide these necessities to individuals who need them most.
