Song Networks signs darkfiber agreement
Song Networks signs darkfiber agreement Song Networks Holding AB's (Stockholmsbörsen stock exchange: SONW) Swedish subsidiary Song Networks Svenska AB was selected as darkfiber supplier when IT Norrbotten AB announced its decision. A preliminary date has been set in August 2004 to sign the agreement, which will run for over 20 years. The municipalities of Norrbotten selected Song Networks as darkfiber supplier in a public procurement conducted by IT Norrbotten AB. The agreement gives the municipalities access to eight fiber pairs in Song Networks' Norrbotten fiber network. IT Norrbotten AB - owned by Norrbotten's trade and commerce, municipalities and county council - is in charge of running regional IT projects. The most important project at present is to coordinate the large-scale IT infrastructure expansion currently underway in Norrbotten. This procurement is part of the project. "Access to parts of Song Networks' darkfiber Norrbotten network is an important link in our work to tie the entire Norrbotten region together in a regional IT infrastructure with good connections. Access to a fast, reliable and redundant regional network is a must for Norrbotten's continued development and growth. Our choice of supplier was primarily based on price and reliability and Song Networks had the best overall offer," says Ulf Byström, Managing Director of IT Norrbotten AB. "I am very pleased that Song Networks' bid held up well against the competition. We have won many capacity deals and the fact that we now landed this type of deal where the customer is itself, directly or indirectly in charge of the network, indicates that Song Networks is now in serious competition with other network providers," says Mats Lundquist, Managing Director of Song Networks Svenska AB.
