The number of completed drill holes was 28 whereof 15 has been mapped, sampled and delivered for assays. Sotkamo Silver has already released information from five drill-cores in a press release on April 28, 2011.

In addition to the underground drilling also a surface-drilling started on May 16th. This drilling consisted of 26 drill-holes and 2,120 meters. Totally 4,520 meters was drilled in these two drilling-programs in Taivaljärvi.

This drilling-program has focused on the following issues:

  • Infill drilling between old drill holes to increase mineral-resources
  • Better definition of the mineralization´s inner and outer boundaries
  • Better understanding of the distribution and grade of silver, gold, zinc and lead inside the mineralization
  • Overall better understanding of the geology and structure of the Taivaljärvimineralization.

All cores are logged at the company’s field-office. The prepared samples will be assayed at the Labtium Oy’s laboratory in Rovaniemi. The laboratory is specialized in the assaying of geological samples. FINAS has accredited Labtium Oy's laboratory according to SFS-EN ISO / IEC 17025:2005 standard.

"This core drilling will provide us with further details on Taivaljärvi silver deposit, its contents and tonnage. Based on this information, we prepare a technical mining plan. Work continues according to plan and this drilling is an integrated part of Taivaljärvi Silver Mine’s Feasibility Study. " Comments Timo Lindborg, CEO
