PILOT-PLANT TEST PROGRESS AS PLANNED

Report this content

Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) has started processing the Taivaljärvi silver ore. Sotkamo Silver has delivered 157 tonnes ore to GTK´s Mineral Processing Laboratory. So far 58 tonnes has been tested and preliminary results are expected during September.

GTK has so far done 6 separate test-runs. These include crushing and grinding of the ore and 3 separate flotation-processes. Flotation tests include flotation of Ag-Au-Pb-, Zn- and pyrite-concentrate. GTK has also tested heavy mineral-separation by shaking-table.

The pilot plant-test is done in order to achieve optimal parameters for the processing of the Taivaljärvi ore. These parameters include;

  • Optimal energy-consumption for the whole process (crushing, grinding, flotation)
  • Maximum recycling of metals with minimum usage of energy and chemicals
  • Proper chemical dosage in the flotation process
  • Most suitable chemicals for the flotation
  • Optimal particle-size for the flotation

This pilot plant-test will significantly shorten the time needed for testing and dry-runs of the processing plant before actual production starts. Final results and reporting will be ready during Q4 2011.
