SOTKAMO SILVER: STARTS PILOT TESTING OF ORE SORTER

Sotkamo Silver has started the pilot testing of the Ore Sorting in May. The Ore Sorter has been supplied and successfully commissioned at the Silver Mine by Outotec and Tomra. The Ore Sorter uses X-Ray Transmission (XRT) technology to scan every feed particle and to identify the relative atomic density differences within particles and then separates desired high-grade particles from the barren material pneumatically. Sorting of marginal ore is done after primary crushing and it is expected to reduce roughly 50% of non-ore material going into the grinding and flotation process. This improves significantly the energy efficiency as less material is grinded and also material efficiency as marginal ore can be exploited and processed to mill feed. Leftover barren material is used as rock-fill in the underground mine.
