SOTKAMO SILVER HAVE SUBMITTED THE APPLICATION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL- PERMIT OF THE TAIVALJÄRVI SILVER MINE
The application for environmental-permit includes a description of the production process, capacity and its environmental aspects of Taivaljärvi Silver Mine. The mine is located in Sotkamo municipality in the province of Kainuu in central Finland. It is the largest silver-deposit ever discovered in Finland. Sotkamo Silver plans to break 350,000 – 400,000 tonnes ore, which is equivalent to 60,000 kg or 2,000,000 oz. silver per year and with planned production-start at the end of 2013.
"The necessary permits to start mining production in Finland can be divided into three categories – mining-, environmental- and planning-permits. The Ministry of Employment and Economy granted in April 2011 Sotkamo Silver the Mining Concession to conduct mining-activities in the area.
