London, 10th August 2015: To celebrate National Afternoon Tea Week (10 – 16 August) South Bank London has compiled a guide highlighting the areas unique array of afternoon tea experiences. The much loved British tradition has been turned on its head by several fine establishments in the area – who fancies a cocktail instead of a cuppa?

The most traditional and quintessentially British afternoon tea resides at London Marriott Hotel County Hall where guests can enjoy the finest views of Westminster within the comfort of the Library Lounge. By contrast Ichi Sushi at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge serve a version for those lacking a sweet tooth, made up entirely of sushi.

Alternatively set sail onboard City Cruises whose boat-based afternoon tea doubles up as a sight-seeing adventure of the capital. Back on dry land theatre lovers not only get to see fantastic productions at National Theatre but for the first time enjoy drama inspired afternoon tea at new restaurant, House.

Finally, OXO Tower Restaurant, Bar and Brasserie have taken their signature Not Afternoon Tea (where they replace tea with cocktails) and given it a Lewis Carroll makeover to celebrate the 150th birthday of Alice in Wonderland, even creating a version especially for children who will receive a very special keepsake to take home.

In addition to the guide, South Bank London have created an infographic filled with weird and wonderful stats about the UK’s favourite past time – guess how many cups of tea Brits consume in a year?
