Kathryn Ellis, Associate Lecturer in advertising at Southampton Solent University has been named as one of this year's Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) Women of Tomorrow.

The award, which is jointly organised by the IPA and Campaign magazine, identifies women who have already made a mark on the advertising industry and who are set to lead the way for the future.

Kathryn has taught on the University’s   BA (Hons) Advertising course for the last two years. She works full-time as a senior account planner, but the companies that she has worked for, Karmarama and now Bray Leino, support her desire to pass on her knowledge to students keen to get ahead in advertising.

In her submission for the award, Kathryn stated: "I want my legacy to be more than just the campaigns and brands I have been involved in creating. I want to be fundamental in developing the industry as a whole through new knowledge and new talent, and to become a leader in communications education."

Caroline Barfoot, Senior Lecturer on the BA (Hons) Advertising course said: "We are incredibly lucky to have Kathryn on the teaching team. She is very talented and 100% up-to-date with industry practice. Our students are learning from the best."

You can read Kathryn's full submission and find out about the other winners at the IPA Women of Tomorrow Winners 2014 webpage.
