Music students in concert with BBC ‘The Voice’ stars
BBC’s ‘The Voice’ stars have chosen a rock band of Southampton Solent University Popular Music Performance students as their personal backing band for a one-off charity concert taking place on Thursday 9 October.
The Mayflower Theatre and Southampton-based charity U Support, are presenting a spectacular concert starring the winner and finalists of the stars of BBC TV’s ‘The Voice’. This will be the only chance for the public to see singers Jermain Jackman, Emily Adams, Jamie Johnson, Chris Royal, Georgia Harrup and Sophie May Williams plus special guests all perform together live in concert.
‘The Bars’ band of BA (Hons) Popular Music Performance students recently performed together with ‘The Voice’ finalist Emily Adams at the annual Sunseeker Summer Ball as a warm-up to U Support’s one-off charity concert.
The students really impressed the singers and the organisers with their professionalism. Emily Adams, BBC ‘The Voice’ finalist commented, “The band are fantastic, we’ve had a great time in rehearsals jamming at Southampton Solent University. The students from Solent’s music courses are an amazing calibre and we’re going to sound fantastic at the concert.”
Brendan Johnson, BA (Hons) Popular Music Performance student said, “It’s an honour to have been selected to be the house band at this major concert. Through the University we get some great work experience and performance opportunities while studying; something that will give me an edge when starting my career after graduating in November.”
