Southampton Solent University is proud to be the official video content creators for Hampshire Cricket TV; students will produce regular video packages for Hampshire Cricket squad’s website.

The exciting new venture saw BA (Hons) Sports Journalism produce the first video package in a fast one day turnaround, filming and editing it for a next day delivery.

This partnership demonstrates Solent’s employability commitment to real-world learning, preparing students to succeed in a fast-changing competitive world. Hampshire Cricket TV will benefit from Solent’s facilities include a new state-of-the-art, fully functional industry standard convergent newsroom and industry-standard multi-camera TV studios with autocue, radio news studios, Reuters and Sky news feeds.

Solent University sports journalism senior lecturer Andy Ford said, “The feedback already received from Hampshire is excellent. Working alongside Hampshire Cricket allows our students to get a taste of working to industry standards for a demanding and highly professional client.”

Andy continued, “We plan to incorporate other sports journalism students, plus those from degrees such as the TV production course as the partnership develops. There are lots of opportunities here to develop skills and make fantastic contacts for the future.”

Hampshire Cricket’s press officer, Jamie Hopkins (and Solent University BA (Hons) Sports Journalism graduate) was pleased with the result. “It was great to work with Solent University students on this project. They brought great enthusiasm and energy and we were very pleased with the final package.

Jamie adds, “Industry work experience is vital for graduates, we look forward to continuing to work with the university, and be that platform for the students as they look to develop their skills.”

The Hampshire Cricket TV team consists of BA (Hons) Sports Journalism third year students Gracie Foster (Producer), Max Whittle (Presenter), Alex O'Loughlin (Camera operator), Laura Pierce (Camera operator) and Andreas Berge (Camera operator).
