Southampton Solent University is throwing open its doors to schools, colleges and the public to raise awareness about the impact of university research on everyday life.

On Wednesday 11 June, 2014 visitors will be able to take part in a range of interactive activities and presentations based on health and wellbeing.

• Experience the fascinating and entertaining world of illusions and reveal the creativity of your mind
• A bike-powered dance floor; can you cycle fast enough to make it light up?
• ‘How healthy is my fridge?’ game
• Try movement orientated games based on the ‘EduMove’ style of teaching
• Can ear simulation technology answer the question: just how loud is too loud?

The event is part of the 'Ideas for Life' Universities Week (9-15 June) and will be a fun day of learning and engagement.

This free event runs from 5.00pm to 7.00pm

By the end of the day all age groups who take part should feel inspired by university research, learn something new about how universities are helping to address some of the world’s biggest challenges and see the relevance of universities to everyday life.
