AGREEMENT BETWEEN TENERIFE SUR AND SPANAIR

Spanair is raising its bet on Tenerife Sur as a premier tourist destination, with first semester seat offerings upped 52% over 2004.

Madrid, 7 September 2005.- Spanair and the Tenerife Cabildo, the Círculo de Empresarios del Sur de Tenerife (CEST), the Comisión de Promoción del Sur (members are ASHOTEL, SPET, and the Arona and Adeje Municipal Governments), the Municipal Governments of Adeje, Arona, Santiago del Teide, Granadilla, San Miguel, Guia de Isora, Arico and Vilaflor, have signed today an agreement for implementation of a common strategy and actions designed to consolidate Tenerife Sur as a premier tourist destination. This year, Spanair, the region´s number one operator, increased seat offerings by 52% over 2004 offerings. Market response to this initiative was positive, with January-June ticket sales up 54% over last year´s figures. With this agreement Spanair consolidates the new routes opened to this destination, and further adds one new daily direct flight between Madrid and Tenerife Sur, scheduled to begin operating in October, from Monday to Sunday, with a flight schedule designed to facilitate passenger connections with all our domestic flights from Madrid. Spanair offers 54 flights weekly between Tenerife Sur and the peninsula, serving 10 cities with direct domestic flights: Alicante (2 flights weekly), Barcelona (8), Bilbao (10), Jerez de la Frontera (2), Madrid (14), Málaga (6), Santiago de Compostela (2), Sevilla (6), Valencia (2) and Vigo (2). Spanair CEO Enrique Melia stated, “Through this collaborative agreement Spanair hopes to strengthen its presence and connections with Tenerife Sur, and is pleased to serve the demands of this passengers market, providing with connections to all Spanair´s domestic and international destinations and those of the Star Alliance airlines member.” Passengers traveling on these routes will enjoy the advantages offered by our Punctuality Guaranteed Commitment, now honored on all Spanair scheduled domestic flights.
