Sas and Spanair express their condolences to the families of the victims

The Spanish airline has deployed all their resources to attend the family members of the victims

Madrid, 21st August 2008. Spanair's General Director, Marcus Hedblom and SAS's President, Mats Jansson, have expressed their deepest condolences for the families of the victims of those on board JK flight 5022.

'As Spanair's General Director I wish to express my deepest condolences to all the families of the victims. It is an irreparable loss and we are heartbroken. The passengers, our employees and their families are our main priority and we are dedicating all our efforts to them’ Marcus Hedblom stated.

From the very first moment that the accident occurred Spanair has deployed all the resources to assist the families of the victims, in close cooperation with the authorities. A total of 109 volunteers from Spanair traveled on Wednesday afternoon from various bases to Madrid in order to assist the families and help them in whatever they may need.

‘As Spanair’s owner I wish to express my condolences to all the families of the victims Our focus and role is to make sure that all available resources are deployed to Spanair, as well as providing moral and humanitarian support to all those affected’ stated Mats Jansson, SAS President, who, along with other members of the SAS Group’s Board traveled yesterday to Madrid.

Marcus Hedblom, Spanair’s Director General has underlined his maximum cooperation with the authorities to clarify the causes of the accident. ‘We are not going to speculate about this matter. We have supplied the technical staff of the Civil Aviation Authorities all the documents and technical registers of the damaged aircraft and they will determine the causes.’

Hedblom has also added that Spanair’s operations are functioning normally today and whatever delay that may be incurred is orientated towards the safety of the passengers: ‘I wish to thank all the employees of Spanair who, even during these sad circumstances and pain due to the loss of their colleagues, are doing their utmost to help the families of the victims and maintain operations.’
