SPANAIR EXPANDS ITS FLEET WITH A NEW AIRBUS 320

WITH THE ADDITION OF THIS NEW AEROPLANE THE COMPANY NOW BOASTS TWENTY A320 TYPE AIRCRAFT

Madrid, 1 July 2005 -. On the1st of July Spanair incorporated a modern Airbus 320 into its fleet, bringing the number of A320/321 aeroplanes up to twenty. With this addition the company aims to reinforce its extensive network of domestic flights. The A320 and A321, manufactured by the European consortium Airbus of which Spain is a member, have been incorporated progressively to Spanair’s fleet as part of the expansion plan undertaken by the company to position itself as leader in the routes it operates. The company’s aim is to strengthen the technology of its fleet and Spanair is the first carrier in the world to use the new version of these aeroplanes whose maximum take-off weight has been increased to 93 tons, which allows non-stop direct flights from the Canary Islands to Scandinavian countries. The layout of Spanair’s A320 includes 156 seats and it is equipped with the latest developments in communications and comfort for passengers. The A320/A321 fleet is powered by V2527-AE engines produced by the IAE International Aero Engines consortium, whose main shareholders are Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney. Spanair was founded in 1986 and is at present the first alternative in Spanish air transport, offering more than 600 daily flights operated with a modern fleet of 56 aircraft and in codeshare with its partners, to more than 150 destinations.
